Canada’s Leading African Network (CLAN) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing Black economic empowerment through entrepreneurship, leadership development, innovation, workforce initiatives, education, and strategic partnerships. Starting in Durham Region, we work to create opportunities that strengthen Black communities across Canada.
CLAN welcomes entrepreneurs, professionals, students, newcomers, employers, community organizations, volunteers, educators, and anyone who supports our mission of advancing Black economic empowerment and community development.

Yes, general community membership is currently free unless otherwise stated for specific membership programs or premium offerings.
CLAN is based in Durham Region, Ontario, and serves communities across Canada through in-person and virtual programs.

Applications can be completed online through the registration form on the specific program page.
Many CLAN programs are offered free of charge. Some specialized conferences, leadership programs, or training initiatives may require a registration fee.
While many initiatives focus on Durham Region, several CLAN programs are open to participants from across Ontario and Canada.
Durham Black Futures is CLAN’s flagship initiative designed to advance Black entrepreneurship, innovation, skilled trades, workforce development, leadership, and economic empowerment in Durham Region.
The Summit is held annually, and this year is focused on AI and Skilled Trades. Visit the Durham Black Futures page for upcoming dates and registration information.
The Accelerator is a cohort-based entrepreneurship program launching in 2027 to help Black founders validate ideas, grow businesses, and access mentorship, training, and investment readiness support.
The Fund is a future initiative that will provide financial support and business development opportunities for Black entrepreneurs. Applications are expected to open in 2027.
Members receive access to networking events, educational workshops, newsletters, leadership opportunities, community initiatives, and early updates on programs, funding opportunities, and events.

Organizations may join CLAN as community partners, collaborators, or corporate members depending on the nature of the partnership.

Where permitted, registrations may be transferred to another individual before the event. Please refer to our Refund & Cancellation Policy.
Some events and webinars may be recorded. Participants will be notified when recording is taking place.

Yes. Depending on the role, volunteers may receive orientation, event briefings, and role-specific training.
Absolutely. We welcome high school, college, and university students who want to gain experience while supporting their community.
Yes. Where applicable, CLAN can provide confirmation of volunteer service and hours completed.

Yes. Organizations can sponsor conferences, community programs, leadership initiatives, scholarships, and special events.
Absolutely. We actively collaborate with educational institutions to support student success, entrepreneurship, innovation, and workforce development.
You can support CLAN by making a financial donation, sponsoring a program, volunteering, or partnering with us on community initiatives.
CLAN will issue donation receipts in accordance with applicable Canadian laws and our organizational status.
Yes. We welcome invitations to speak at conferences, community events, educational institutions, and corporate engagements.
CLAN manages personal information in accordance with our Privacy Policy and applicable privacy legislation.
